Exclusions

The following circumstances are not covered under the student travel insurance policy:

  • Traveling against a physicianโ€™s advice, receiving or being on a waiting list for specific medical treatments, or traveling for the sole purpose of obtaining medical treatment.
  • Any pre-existing medical condition or complications arising from it.
  • Suicide, attempted suicide (regardless of mental state), or intentional self-inflicted injuries or illnesses, including sexually transmitted diseases, mental or nervous disorders, stress, depression, AIDS, or HIV.
  • Serving in any military or armed forces, whether during peace or war. Premiums will be refunded on a pro-rata basis for such periods of service.
  • Use of drugs, alcohol, or other intoxicants not prescribed by a physician and used improperly.
  • Participation in riots, crimes, civil unrest, or criminal acts.
  • Operating or learning to operate aircraft or working as part of an aircraft crew.
  • Losses resulting from war, civil war, invasions, insurrections, revolutions, or military actions, regardless of their declaration.
  • Exposure to ionizing radiation, nuclear contamination, or radioactive fallout from nuclear materials.
  • Handling or exposure to radioactive, explosive, or other hazardous nuclear equipment.
  • Self-inflicted injuries due to needless risk-taking, except in life-saving efforts.
  • Congenital anomalies or related complications.
  • Participation in risky activities like skiing, scuba diving, mountaineering, bungee jumping, or motorized sports, unless specifically covered under intercollegiate sports.
  • Riding motorcycles or other motorized vehicles as a driver or passenger.
  • Losses due to pregnancy or childbirth complications not covered under the policy.
  • Illegal acts or violations of the law, such as willful participation in riots or resistance to arrest.
  • Losses occurring while traveling in or through Afghanistan, Cuba, or the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Losses caused by terrorism, narcotics trafficking, or the use of chemical or biological weapons.
  • Any non-medical expenses.

Claim Process

In the event of a claim, the following steps must be taken:

  1. Notify the insurer of the occurrence immediately. Submit a detailed written claim outlining the extent and nature of the loss. Delays in notification may result in rejection of the claim.
  2. Take all necessary steps to minimize further loss or damage.

  5. Submit all required documentation as per the insurerโ€™s request, including proof of loss and liability.
